The following supporting documentation must be forwarded with your application for the Jackson State University Greater Washington, DC Alumni Chapter Scholarship Award by March 12, 2003. Partial applications will not be considered.

1. Official transcript of academic record;
2. Copy of JSU letter of acceptance (new applicants only);
3. Two letters of recommendation from non-family members. At least one recommendation letter should come from an educational professional at the university for students already attending Jackson State or from the student’s high school for incoming freshmen.
4. A 500-word essay, typed and double-spaced (not required for renewals). Applicants may write about one of the three topics:
   • “The Advantages/Benefits of Attending a Historically Black Institution”
   • “Why a College Education is Important to Me”
   • “My Plan/Goals for Success”
